i took my dog for a walk this morning. it was early, the sun was just coming up. we walked down the path into the woods -- there's a small clearing by a pond where the dog likes to 'take care of business' -- and after a few minutes, we heard something in the woods.

we stopped and listened.

then slowly, 4 or 5 deer came out of the woods; two were gigantic, the rest were much smaller. I'm assuming it was a small clan (i don't know much about the herding nature of deer), i didn't see any bucks with antlers. They sniffed the ground and the air. if they didn't see us, I'm sure they could smell us. i whispered for my dog to stop and sit. and she did.

so we sat on the path and watched the deer as they slowly moved across the clearing. they seemed peaceful and beautiful, and moved with a sense of grace and purpose that domesticated animals lack. i thought about how hard it would be for me to shoot a deer. i suppose i could do it if i had to. like..if i were starving and couldn't order pizza. but even then, I'd have to be REAL hungry.

the deer then slowly walked into the forest along unseen paths and were gone, their grey and white shapes disappearing completely within a few seconds.

except one little deer with gigantic ears.

it just stopped and looked back at us as if to say:

"you have the worst camoflage i have ever seen. oh, and we can smell you from a mile away. especially the dog."

then it turned and walked into the forest and was gone.

and i thought to myself "man, i think we just got SERVED by a fawn."

that little bastard.

why is it that all the really interesting forum topics get killed? if i see one more forum about vampiric OCD or compulsions or vampires and magic (!!!) i'm going to fucking scream.

i'm in a bad mood.
